BQ76952: Need clarification on switching between I2C and SPI modes on different part numbers

Part Number: BQ76952

Dear TI Team,

In the datasheet, there are communication modes mentioned against different part numbers as in the screenshot below.

  • Why are specific communication protocols mentioned against these part numbers?
  • Do BQ7695201/03/04 also support I2C apart from SPI and can they be switched to I2C communication using OTP programming?
  • BQ7695201/03/04 which are in stock on the TI store, are in product preview stage or are fully functional production units?

Thanks and Regards

  • Hi Manuj,

All of these devices are fully released to production, but demand is very high which is why you are seeing devices out of stock in the TI store. The BQ7695201/03/04 are pre-configured for SPI mode. They can be programmed back to I2C mode in OTP, but that requires programming the registers and sending the command to write to OTP using SPI protocol, so it may be difficult. The BQ7695202 uses I2C with CRC enabled.

    Best regards,

    Matt
