TPS62097: Spikes at SW

Part Number: TPS62097

Hi TI,

I just noticed at no load, the SW will see spikes higher than maximum rating...
Even the screenshot from EVM seems to show the same thing:

So this screenshot is taken from https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/997861/tps62097-negative-spike-at-sw-node
I didn't notice the max rating back then. The max voltage at SW is supposedly Vin+0.3V, so 3.6V (3.3Vin). I am seeing similar spikes at my SW, are these okay?

  • Hi Hao,

    Thanks for the additional question.

The same reasoning of last time is still valid also for positive spikes.

The high frequency ringing (usually < 10ns) on the SW node is intrinsic of the converter behavior.

The absolute maximum rating of VIN + 0.3V refers to 'DC' conditions (usually > 10ns).

If the spikes you see in your application are similar to the ones of the EVM you should not have problems.

Please ask again if you need further support.

    Thanks,

    Stefano
