Hi Sirs,

My customer is looking for a buck-boost device that can output 140W and pass the ISO16750-2 standard. (Vin_min is 3.5V, Vin_max is 60V; V-out is 14V; I-out is 10A)

May I know the LM5156-Q1 can meet their request? or advise other devices. Thanks!

Hello Henry,

A semiconductor device cannot pass the ISO16750-2 standard as this is a system standard for road vehicles.

LM5156-Q1 is a boost converter only, so if the customer is ok if the output follows the input whenever it is higher than the regulated output voltage, you can use this boost converter.

If the customer can limit the input voltage to 55V, he can use LM5176.

If this is not possible, I need to recommend at the moment LM5118, but the 2 diodes are the limiting factor here. 10A is really high for diodes.

Do you have some information about the schedule of this project?

Hi Sir,

The customer would to design this DC-power device on the industrial and automotive products, the MP schedule is Y2023.

If the 10A is really high for diodes on 2-switch design, may I recommend the customer to use the 4-switch design same as the AN-2178?

Hello Henry,

You are absolutely right, 10A is too high for diodes, so going with the 4 switch design of LM5118 if the customer cannot limit the voltage to 55V is the right way.
