couldn't find binary file for TPS65983 inside Application Customization Tool-GUI Version : 6.1.2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65981, TPS65987, TPS65983B, TPS65987DDK

Hi,

Part# TPS65983A is present on my board which I want to configure. I have downloaded TPS6598x config file from below TI link.

https://www.ti.com/tool/TPS6598X-CONFIG

I couldn't find the base NVM binary file for TPS65983A inside the installation folder but I could see other two binary files.

TPS65981_2_6_v0001_12_11.bin

TPS65987_88_F707_10_09.bin

Also i couldn't find a option to select the TPS65983 device when I open a new project. Could you point me the correct link where i can download the binary for TPS65983A?

Regards,

Nanthan.

  • Hi Nathan,

The TPS65983 is intended only for Intel Thunderbolt designs. The device has its own firmware and configuration tool. It is not part of the TPS6598x Configuration GUI.

In order to download the '83 Configuration GUI, you need to request access to it from the TPS65983B Product folder.

I also suggest double checking the silicon on your board. The A variant is an older device that only supports PD2.0. The '83 Configuration GUI will contain PD2.0 firmware.

    Regards,

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, I have thunderbolt reference kits with both A & B variants of TPS65983.

I'm trying to generate the config file for the custom thunderbolt design. I couldn't find the '83 Configuration GUI' access request link from the TPS65983B Product folder. Could you point me the link for getting firmware?

    Also I have another question.

I hope we could also use PD controller TPS65987DDK for Thunderbolt design. Any recommendation for this part?

    Regards,

    Nanthan.

  • Hi Scott,

We found the link and sent access request to TI. Thanks for your support.
