Dear sir,
Customer want to use LM5180 to design a isolation power ( +/-18V output @300mA ), do you have some available transformer to recommend?
Vinput = 24V
Voutput = +/-18V @ 300mA
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Jack
Hi, Jack,
I think you made a typo when you entered the part number. You entered LM5108, but I think you are asking about LM5180. Is that correct?
Best regards,
Don
Hi Jack,
The power level of 10.8W is too high for the LM5180. The LM25183 is more suitable. Take a look at this design example (+/-15V at 0.3A): https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm25183-q1.pdf#page=25
Here is the completed quickstart calculator for your design requirements (check Vin-min as this affects power capability):
LM(2)5183 PSR flyback converter quickstart tool -- 24Vin 18V dual 0.3Aout.xlsx
Note as the output is 18V, the power level is higher than the 15V example in the datasheet. This means that a 1 : 1 turns ratio is required (i.e. 1 : 1 :1 for a dual-output transformer). You can request Coilcraft update their ZB1056-AE transformer design for this turns ratio with Lmag >15uH as indicated in the quickstart.
Regards,
Tim
