BQ25710: About Realization of battery only mode in the presence of AC adapter

Hi,

I have a question after referring to the following E2E.

Customer want to have the ability to measure the power of the batteries implemented in their applications.
In the background, they want to realize the battery discharge function in the presence of the AC adapter.
I introduced learn mode. However, they want to realize the discharge function with the configuration the below.



They want to install a FET on the VBUS pin and force the AC adapter to be absent.
Could you give me some advice on the problems with this configuration?

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

    There is no problem with that. In this type of configuration, the FETs (back to back blocking FETs) can be treated as an independently controlled load switch. From the perspective of the charger, it would see no voltage at VBUS.
