TPS1H000-Q1: DIAG_EN Setting

Part Number: TPS1H000-Q1

Hi team,

Would you check these two questions from our customer about TPS1H000 diagnostics/protections setting in DIAG_EN?

1. In datasheet Table 2. Fault Truth Table, it looks like Overload or short to GND, Thermal Shutdown, Thermal Swing only work when IN is High. Is it correct that these diagnostics will not work if IN is Low no matter of DIAG_EN status?

2. If they want to use only protections and disable all diagnostics of the device, is it okay to connect DIAG_EN to GND and leave FAULT open like below?

Thank you,

Muwei Zheng

  • Hi Muwei,

    1. The protection feature of the device in the event of a fault is to turn off the power path. If the device has IN held low, it is already OFF then the device is protected already.

    2. The protections on the device are always available when the device is powered. DIAG_EN only controls the "diagnostics" or sensing/reporting of the faults. DIAG_EN can be pulled to GND and FAULT can be left floating.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
