BQ34110: Initial Battery Capacity Estimation

Part Number: BQ34110

According to "2.7.10 Initial Battery Capacity at Device Reset", the BQ34110 is able to estimate the capacity of a just attached battery pack based on the voltage.

We have tried (no success - still need clarification/instructions) to generate the event/scenario that makes this estimation procedure to run, as described below:

1 - The application circuit ON followed by a full charged battery attachment -> the RC is reported as 0% (approximately) and do not increase because no charge current flows to the battery.

2 - From the scenario 1, the circuit is powered off and powered on some seconds later -> the results are the same.

3 - From the scenario 1, the battery pack is deattached , the circuit is powered off, the battery pack is attached and the circuit is powered on -> the results are the same.

We have experienced cases where this estimation procedure has worked fine, and the reported RC was raised from 0% to 100%, but we could not understand what was the "trigger".

In the equipment we are working on, a battery pack is not attached "all the time" and, once attached, can not go to a full discharge cicle as it is a backup for the AC line.

Can someone help us on this issue?
