BQ34Z100-G1: ALERT pin connected to P1 but LED function is not needed.

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

I know Alert pin has various option by I2C and LED configurations. Refer to Table 7-21 in TRM.

In customer design, they would like to I2C , a alert pin connected to host and no LED requirement.

Ideally, alert pin is connected to PIN 1 with LED configuration hex code 0x0. However, for some mistake, alert pin is connected to pin 12.

Could they set LED configuration for 94 to keep alert function in pin 12? Any side effect for this configuration to LED function are working?

  • Hello,

Why set it to 94? That one is for pin 13 to be the alert pin. I believe setting either 93 or 43 would work for you here. With this configuration, you should still get the alert information on pin12, but a shift register will fill up with information for LEDs that is simply unused. I don't see why that should cause any issues. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    thanks,

    Alex M.
