the device TEXAS TPS61165DBVR do no work properly with LOW PWM level (4%), the current output goes up from 1mA up to 4mA without reasons. The problems seems to be link with the input voltage, when the input voltage changes from 12V to 14,5V the output current goes up. This problem seems to be and instability on the feedback control loop, please look at the attached document.

Hi Andrea

Can you help add SW result for 4% duty cycle before and after increasing Vin? What I see from the result is the Vin is larger than VLED, while this device is typically for boost topology.

Can you help clarify your requirement? What is the input voltage range? The output LED configuration is the same as shown in the document? That is 5s2p, total 40mA or 80mA? And the LED string volatge can vary from 15V to 18V according to different current?

Vin from 11V to 18V (partialy regulated), I LED from 1mA up to 40mA, LED string voltage 15-18V due to current variation and LED binning . With this constrains I think that the buck-boost topology is the right choice.

I suggest TPS92390 that supports sepic topology. This device can cover both voltage range and current ratings.
