BQ76952: TS2 pin and its specifications

Part Number: BQ76952

Hello,

looking at data sheet of BQ76952 I read that  TS2 as input port can tolerate an input  voltage between 0V - 2V (corresponding to VREG18), when used as ADC input  pin. No mention about other case/use.

- Consider TS2 pin not used for thermistor measurements: it is possible in RUN mode to connect TS2 pin to a 3.3V by means of an external pull up resistor?

- Consider TS2 pin not used for thermistor measurements: It is possible in RUN mode to change the volage level (high->Low->high->Low->..) of the TS2 pin or this is a problem?

- Consider using the SHUTDOWN mode of BQ76952: In order to strengthen the output of the TS2 pin in shutdown mode, is it possible to add an external 5V pull up or a weak current source (2uA-3uA) on TS2 pin?

Thanks in advance

Francesco

  • Hey Francesco,

    1. The limit for TS2 Vin applies to general ADC input and thermistor usage. If the pin is not being used as with thermistor then it must be used as an ADC, as seen in the supported pin functions in section 12.5 of the datasheet. You would need a level shifter for any voltage over the specified 2V max.

    2. Changing the voltage on the pin while the device is active will not be an issue as long as you are within the pin voltage min/max.

    3. You should not add a 5V pullup to this pin.

I'm struggling to understand what you are trying to do accomplish. Maybe I can be of more help if you would like to explain what exactly you are trying to do with the TS2 pin?

    Thanks,
    Caleb
