LM5156: 24V to 120V Boost Converter Design

Part Number: LM5156

Hi,

I am wanting to design a boost converter with:

Vin = 24V

Iin = 25A max

Vout = 120V

Iout = 4A

I am looking at using the LM5156 but I have noticed the maximum Vcc is 16V. I was thinking to use a voltage divider to solve this problem. I also wanted to know if the LM5156 was suitable for stepping the voltage up to 120V or do I need to be looking at another IC?

Kind regards

Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    LM5156 can fulfill your application. LM5156 has a input voltage range of 3.5-V to 60V (BIAS pin), so it will be OK for 24V input application.  You should connect BIAS pin to 24V, but not VCC pin.
