TPS659037: RESET_OUT Waveform

Part Number: TPS659037
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728, TMDSEVM572X

Hi,

Please refer to the PMIC schematics on our custom board designed using AM5728, which has no dedicated power switch. See the related post for background information. The POWERGOOD output of 3.3V regulator is connected to POWERHOLD pin of PMIC.

The waveform of the RESET_OUT signal gives pulses before being stable at 3.3V as in the attached waveform. This happens during power reset and software reboot. Could you confirm the reason for the pulses in RESET_OUT?

It was confirmed that the pulses are not appearing on TMDSEVM572x evaluation board.

  • Hi Thariq,

I would first like to point you to the TPS659037 User's Guide to Power AM574x, AM572x, and AM571x. This explains how the RESET_OUT signal goes high as part of the sequencing of the device. I would start by looking at the other pins in the sequence which precede RESET_OUT to see if any of those are having similar issues.

For instance in the powerup sequence in the image below from page 14, if any of the LDOs or SMPS voltages are oscillating, that could cause the RESET_OUT pin to perform as you are seeing in your waveform. In that case it would be best to check the loading conditions of the regulator in question.

Thank you for posting your question on E2E.

    Regards,

    Alex
