i am currently trying to drive 3 series and 10 parallel combination of CREE led at 2.5 amp average led current these led work at 3v forward now i need around 9v at output but my load i.e Rd is 97.5mohm (net resistance of 30 led arrangement ) now i am confused that if lm3424 is trying to control the current only current monitoring how this 9v at output is achieved can someone please explain it because iled *rlednet(.0975*2.5) is not 9v
Hello Vinay,
The LM3424 is a current controller so the output voltage will be what the LED's forward voltage needs to be in order the get the designed current output. It feeds back the voltage of the current to HSP and HSN and this is how it controls the output current.
Thanks Tuan
Tuan Tran74 thanks for clearing my doubt . i have made a setup using lm3424 as buck driver and optimized it to drive led at 2.5amp can you check whether the values of capacitor and resistor, which i have calculated if i share it with you , will work accordingly or not ?
Hello Vinay,
All the equations are in the data sheet for you to calculate values for your design. We cannot do the full design for you.
Thanks Tuan
Hello Vinay,
We also have the PSpice model on out TI website below to help you with your design.
