TPS7A26: Soft start

Part Number: TPS7A26
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A25

Hi team,

Does TPS7A26 have an internal soft start to limit inrush current?

I found TPS7A26 product folder states the soft start function.

Also, it is discussed that TPS7A25 has the internal soft start in this thread

But I don't find any specific soft-start description in the datasheet.

Regards,

Itoh

  • Hello Itoh-san,

Both of these devices have a current limit that will reduce inrush current, but not instantaneously. There will be inrush on these parts experienced before the inrush current kicks in. If you look at the figures on both graphs the start up is still relatively quick so no these do not have traditional soft start properties.

TPS7A26 -  Figure 32. and Figure 33. in the datasheet (page 11) you are able to see the soft start functionality in the start up curves.

TPS7A25 -  Figure 32. and Figure 33. in the datasheet (page 11) as well.

    Thanks,

    McKyla
