TPS65982: TPS65982 current limit setting

Hi Leon,

These values are set up based on the PD contract and cannot be manually selected.

Just a heads up you can make this design but it will not be certifiable since it only supports PD 2.0.

What are the design requirements for your project? 

Are you looking to be a source, sink, or dual role?

It's used in the charger adapter meaning as a source.

When the Operating Current field in the sink Request Data Object is set to 2A, and the Maximum Operating current is set to 3A, does it's based on 2A or 3A?

If don't use the PD contract,, only use advertisement mode: default, 1.5A  or 3A, does it automatically select the settings?

I have another question, in the TPS65982 datasheet section 9.3.3.3, it indicates that  the current from PP_5V0 to VBUS is sensed through the switch and is available to be read digitally through the ADC, I can't find the registers of ADC to get the transformed ADC value..

It will choose the maximum contract offered by the source that meets those requirements. The negotiations are done automatically.

Hi Leon,

Sorry for the confusion!

I meant to say that in the TRM attached above you can find this section about reading in an ADC value.

It will be in section 4.12.

Hi Leon,

I believe it should be setting 15 since it is the only setting whos minimum value is above 3 A. 

I am leaving this thread open and will reply back to you tomorrow once I confirm this!
