BQ24715: Can the mode of OVP and OCP be setting?

Part Number: BQ24715

Hi TI Teams,

Our customer have a question about the OVP and OCP function of BQ24715, they are wondering if the mode of OVP and OCP  can be setting. What they want to achieve is that after the OCP or OVP is activated, the OCP or OVP can only be cleared after re-power the product. Is this possible, and if so, how to implement it? Can u give some suggestion for this?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hi TI Teams,

The OCP function of the BQ24715 will repeatedly output when the output terminal is short-circuited to ground (SYSTEM LOAD is shorted to ground), which will continue to cause damage to the short-circuit equipment at the back end.

    Thanks,

    Kind Regards

  • Hi,

Another question, if the output power of the adapter is not enough, does the BQ24715 support the hybrid power supply mode of the adapter and the battery?

    Thanks,

    Kind Regards

  • Hi, Lumina,

In BQ24715, OCP is cycle-by-cycle protected, not a latched off event, but converter is latch-off when SYSOVP is detected.

If you need hybrid boost function, I will suggest you BQ24800--SMBus 1-4 cell Buck battery charge controller to support hybrid power boost and battery boost mode.

    Regards,

    Tiger
