TPS61230: Using two in parallel

Does this boost regulator support using 2 in parallel? I know that not all boost devices can support parallelization, but I found this thread showing that the part in question does support parallel use:

There is even a reference design for the device discussed in that thread: www.ti.com/.../PMP40909

Also, if TPS61230 supports using 2 in parallel, what is the maximum continuous output current I could expect to source from the parallel combination of two of those devices?

Hi Paul,

it is depend on your application, such as input voltage range and output voltage.

could you share more info about your case here?

Hi Tao,

Input is coming from nominal 3.7V LiON batteries. So the input voltage range is approximately 3.0 - 4.3V. Output is 5V. There is also a battery charger in the design. So any time an aux input power source is attached, the charger voltage will be the source for the TPS61230. That voltage obviously varies depending on the charge level of the batteries.

FYI, the battery charger we are using is TI p/n BQ24600RVAR.

i think it is resonable we assume a 3.5A output capability when there are two device in parallel.
