Hi
The customer test with BQ76952, they found that if BQ76952 is in shutdown mode, when it powered on, the REG18 will output 1.8V without any operation on TS2.
From TRM we know that there are two conditions for shutdown to enter normal mode: one is that TS2 pull-down action is detected, and the other is that there is a charge decision.
In the subsequent test, TS2 is floating, and the PACK is also floating. The LD pin is connected to the BAT -, and the 1.8V output of REG18 can still be measured after power on.
The same test was performed on the BQ76952EVM. When the 50V power supply was connected to the BAT pin at CELL16 and the jumper cap at TS2, no connection. When the wake switch was not pressed after power on, the 1.8V voltage could be measured at REG18.
After BQ76952 is powered on, it will automatically enter the Normal mode without any wakeup. The customer is design to use REG18 as the judgment of BQ76952 leaving shutdown and starting to work.
When BQ76952 is connected to the charger REG18 will output 1.8V without any wakeup action, does it normal?
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks
Star
Hi Star,
Yes, the BQ76952 will be in Normal mode after power is connected. It will only enter Shutdown if the Shutdown command is sent by the host or the RST_SHUT pin is held high for more than 1 second.
Best regards,
Matt
