BQ4050: Overcharge clarification

Part Number: BQ4050

Hello

I have some batteries with OC protection triggering sometimes toward the end of charge.

I have reasonably increased the OC threshold to about 16% of Design capacity but still I see some activations randomly, and I'm considering some workaround or the complete deactivation of this protection.
I understand that sometimes in the CEDV gauges the FCC can be a bit inaccurate if it has been updated during an heavy-load discharge, but the 16% of overcharge threshold should not be easy to reach.

So, I have some doubt on the logic, and the tech ref does not help to clarify it.
On reading the tech ref I understand that to have the protection to trip, Internal charge counter has to be greater than OC:Threshold, but it is not clear what "Internal charge counter" is.

Is it a counter that start to count only when  RemainingCapacity() ≥ FullChargeCapacity(), maybe ?

Can you please clarify that ?

Thanks

Pietro
