TPS1HC100-Q1: questions ABOUT TPS1HC100-Q1

Part Number: TPS1HC100-Q1

Hi Expert,

I have several questions about TPS1HC100-Q1:

1. As you can see below, the relative shift down has tighter threshold than absolute thermal shut down. So relative one always happens first. So under what condition does absolute thermal shut down happen then?

2. How does TPS1HC100-Q1 detect loss of GND? By monitoring  IC_GND?

  • Hi Elec,

    1. Absolute thermal shutdown occurs when the junction temperature hits the absolute shutdown threshold as mentioned in the datasheet. Relative thermal shutdown only occurs if there is a significant thermal difference between the controller and the power FET.

    2. The device monitors the internal generated references and pins such as IC_GND. For loss of GND to work correct, we require IC_GND, thermal pad and current limit ground are one trace connected to system ground as shown in the figure.

    Thanks,
