TPS25750: Completely turn off sink / source

The Type C PD standard requires that a 5V PDO be provided if the device is configured as as DRP or a UFP, so there is no way to disable all sourcing unless you define the connection type as a SINK only.

I need to think about any method that we could use to force to device into sink only mode.  This would resolve the issue that you are seeing.

Have you found a way to achieve a way to truly turn off sink or source?

Hello Kevin,

As discussed, we tried to set the device to Sink via SWSk 4CC command. For a few seconds the device stops sourcing but after that it restarts sourcing, i.e. charging the phone.

When we read the Task result, we receive a 0x4 "Task rejected because the Rx Buffer was locked. This is for Tasks that require the PD controller to use the Rx Buffer."

Any idea why this would appear? Or what goes wrong?

Hi Ambroise,

If you select any of these options, it should configure the TPS25750 to be either a source or sink only device:

For Source Only application, we only support up to 5V/3A max sourcing from the PP5V to VBUS path.

We would like to switch sink/source on the fly (i.e. in operation). Is that possible with a command like SWSk?

Yes you can!

But it depends on the other device connected as it may reject the power role swap.
