TPS65988: questions for status, VID, DID and Variant of DH and DX

Hi,

I dump this register TPS65988(DX) in the screenshot.

1. what is the difference variant between DX and DH ? I checked the Datasheet SLVAE21A.pdf in page 4, section 4.2 Flash memory org. mentioned about DH/ DX.

2. I read the offset 0x00 for VID the value is 0x0 is this correct ?

3. I read the offset 0x1 for DID the value is 0x32454341 , is this correct?

4. in offset 0x1A for status, if I plug a device for example usb memory sticks, the bit 0 the plug present value should be 1 (plug present) correct ?

bit 3:1 the Connstate should be any connection state changes.

Hi Sofian,

[1] The 'X' in DX is a variable place holder for an actual version letter. For the TPS65987/988, 'X' can be H, J, or K. This indicates different parts in the same family. You can read more into the differences on ti.com, but one of the major differences in H only supports DP, J adds TBT3 support, and K adds USB4 and TBT4 support.

[2] On the 988 EVM, I am reading 00000028.

[3] On the 988 EVM, I am reading 4C454341

You are using a 988DJ board correct?

Can you share the pjt file you are using?

[4] Yes, as the 988 is a two port device, make sure you are using the I2C address that corresponds to the port you are expecting a plug event on.

I'll double check with a team member about items 2, and 3 and if the variance is expected.

No, this VID value should be 0x28
