USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01: Error at connection

Part Number: USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25790, USB2ANY

Hi team,

Customer said Application Customization tool doesn’t connect with devices with the attached message. The configuration is also attached as pptx format.

The process is below.

1. Make sure the connection with the configuration at ppt.

1. Answer to the listed questions

2. Click Flash to device from current configuration

BQ25790+TPS25750 (003).pptx

One thing the difference with the EVM usage, they don't use USB2ANY and connect 3rd-party USB to I2C converter which is explained in the 2nd page.

Can you please point out the issue?

Regards,

Hayashi

  • Hi Hayashi-san,

Please follow the steps in this link to flash the binary.

I recommend getting an Aardvark for flashing the binary.

    Regards.

  • Hi Tommy,

Customer have gotten the Aardvark adapter, but there are still no connection.

Connect PC with Aardvark, then connect Aardvark with USB-PD-CHG-EVM: WIndows recognize Aardvark but the GUI shows Hardware not Connected.

Connect Aardvark with USB-PD-CHG-EVM, then connect PC with Aardvark: WIndows doesn't recognize Aardvark.

Which sequence is correct? I ask it because Quick Start Guide doesn't mentions about the connection between Aardvark with USB-PD-CHG-EVM. if the first sequence is correct, is it right that GUI doesn't recognize connection?

    Best regards,

    Hayashi

  • Hi Hiyashi-san,

Both sequences should work, but if Windows is not recognizing Aardvark I would recommend using the first sequence.

Make sure to add the Aardvark adapter in Flash Center -> Adapters -> Add Adapters. Once the adapter is added, set the "Device Control" as the following picture (the EEPROM on USB-PD-CHG-EVM is CAT24WC256),

then load the binary generated from the web GUI using the "Load File..." and you should be able to flash the EEPROM.

    Regards.
