LM5156-Q1: Can LM5156-Q1 achieve -25V output?

Part Number: LM5156-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5160-Q1, LM5160, LM5156, PMP20904

Hi team,

My customer is looking for a solution:

Input 12V

Output -17V~-24.5V adjustable

Can LM5160-Q1 achieve this?

If not, do you have any other suggestion?

  • Hello Iris,

    Thanks for usung e2e again.

I am not sure if your question refers to LM5156 or LM5160.
Anyway, you can always use a flyback topology with primary side regulation to create negative output voltages.

Our Boost controllers/converters do not support the inversion of the FB signal.
Therefore, even if you can shift the FB voltage to a positive value, the phase would still be inverted, so that the regulation would not work.

So we recommend using a Buck to create negative output voltages.
You can refer to PMP20904 to demonstrate the concept:

  • Hi Harry,

    Understood. Great thanks!
