EV2400: EV2400 for bq27220EVM-744

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27220EVM-744, , BQSTUDIO

Hello,

We have bought an EV2400 and want to use it as the interface board for bq27220EVM-744 (based on Figure 1 in "sluubf5.pdf"). However, EV2400 is not detected as expected. We checked it in Windows 10 (via 3 PCs) and Windows 8.1. According to the thread "Software for EV2400 for Windows 10", no drivers are needed for EV2400 in Windows (10) while in "sluubf5.pdf" I see the statement "For the EV2400, the driver should be installed along with software installation.". I have also seen the thread "EV2400: EV2400 not working with Windows 10" which does not help to resolve the problem. Moreover, I installed "EV2400 Firmware Updater v0.32" and updated the firmware to the latest version. This update did not help too. It seems that the problem is caused by the EV2400 hardware, but we want to make sure if there might be something to do with the EV2400 software before returning the EV2400 module. Could you please let me know if you have any idea how to possibly resolve the problem? Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Reza Ghaderi

  • Hello Reza,

Is the device detected at all? Can you share any screenshots of the communication you have had with the EV2400? If the firmware was updated successfully it sounds like it is detected. Can you clarify what happens when you connected the EV2400 to the EVM and try to boot BQStudio that isn't expected?

Are all 3 lights on the EV2400 or are some of them off?

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt,

In Windows 10, via Device Manager, I see that the EV2400 module is detected under Human Interface Devices as 'HID-compliant vendor-defined device' and 'USB Input Device' while the name "EV2400" is not visible anywhere. All the three lights are on. I have attached the screenshots of the Device Manager and what I see in the bqStudio (after connecting the devices based on Figure 1 in "sluubf5.pdf" and restarting the bqStudio).

    Kind regards,

    Reza

  • Hello Reza,

It looks like your EV2400 is fine, the gauge is not communicating with the EV2400 so the issue is with the gauge EVM. Make sure you follow all the steps in the users guide, otherwise it may not be powered correctly.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt,

Thank you for your response. Apparently the problem was caused by our (empty) battery. After connecting a DC power supply, the problem got resolved. Therefore, the EV2400 software/hardware was not the cause of the problem, although the form of the EV2400 detection might lead us to such conclusion.

    Kind regards,

    Reza Ghaderi
