BQ25171EVM: STAT2 flashing

I just received the BQ25171EVM and set up for 6S NiMH batteries, and observed the STAT2 flashing in the following scenarios:

1. No battery attached: STAT2 flashes at 9.3Hz rate. STAT1 stays high.

2. If batteries are Alkaline, STAT2 flashes at ~ 2.6Hz rate. STAT1 stays high.

Are these normal? as I did not find it in the datasheet.

    Hi Tai

    Behavior 1, no battery sounds normal:

    1.) see figure 8-3, no battery condition.

    2.) Unit will cycle between Charge and Charge Complete.  Charge output C then, turn off and C bleeds down and restarts.

    3.) STAT 1 / 2 for Charge complete HIGH / HIGH, Normal Charge High / LOW.  Unit is cycling between two states

    Behavior 2, sounds similar that the output voltage will increase then after charger turns off the voltage drops and charger restarts.
