BQ34Z100EVM: About BQ Studio

Part Number: BQ34Z100EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi,

The customer is running BQStudio with a BQ34Z100EVM connection.
BQStudio recognize EVM connections, but not all items work.
Could you please refer to the following documents, which contain the connection diagrams and questions, and answer them?

1. Calibration does not succeed with an error (X mark). What could be the cause?

2. I want to select a battery pack from the Chemistry sheet and save it, but I get Error code 1470. What could be the cause?

3. Data Memory can not be rewritten. What could be the cause?

  • Hello Nishie,

    1. The voltage divider must be setup up in data flash before calibration

    2. There is an unseal step required before full access unseal. Check the control status/flags registers to know the correct status of the gauge

    3. The gauge is probably sealed if you cannot write to data flash. The pack voltage may be lower than Flash update voltage.

  • Hi Shirish-san,

    Thank you for your support.

    Customer did it.
But Error occurred as shown in the following document (P5 and P7) .
Could you please advise how to respond?

  • For calibration, the error code is that is unable to enter calibration mode. Sending the CAL_ENABLE before calibration may be causing some confusion to bqStudio because that is a toggle command.

Refer the EVM guide procedure www.ti.com/.../sluu904b.pdf

  • Hi Shirish-san,

    Thank you for the information.
I bought a new EVM and tried what you told me and got an Error.
I have summarized the contents in the attached document, so could you please check it?

  • Write All failed for a calibration value "CC Threshold". This can happen and is not a bug in bqStudio. Calibration values are not imported by bqStudio and this could be a side effect (not really writing the imported value). This value is written automatically when calibration is performed. Using the calibration tab is the recommended method to update this value.

The chemistry programming error cannot be ignored. In this particular case it means that the checksum match failed, so the data was not programmed correctly.  Did you try to program it again?

->Am I correct in understanding that if I want to update the data memory tabs at once, I need to plug my battery into the EVM and run the "Calibrate gas gauge" button on the calibration tab?

->Am I correct in thinking that "Did you try to program it again?" means re-executing the button in the red frame?

  • Hello Nishi,

I see that you have v661 of the chemsitry database. Please update to the latest and try again

  • Also try with a newer version of bqStudio if the chemistry update does not help. www.ti.com/.../BQSTUDIO-TEST

  • Hi Shirish-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I will try it.
