BQ40Z80EVM-020: DISP configuration

Part Number: BQ40Z80EVM-020

Can somebody supply to me preloaded firmware / configuration file for this evaluation board as  I strugling to configure DISP button which works before.

  • Hello Jan,

We cannot provide you with pre-configured settings for DISP functionality, but we can work with you to get the correct settings. Please share the operation you are trying to accomplish, like the DISP pin desired, jumper configurations, etc.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

Please find enclosed schematic and configuration file.

Same I configured on evaluation board with same results. I can turn on LEDs by sending command "DISPLAY_PRESS" but by pulling to ground pin13  "press disp button" LEDs are without action.

Can you also guide me how to configure LEDs to show battery level all the time while disp button is pressed. Also we would like if possible to use 4 leds instead 6 if where e.g.

1st LED will blink if capacity is below 20%

1st LED will be on if capacity is over 20%

2nd LED will blink if capacity is below 30%

2nd LED will be on if capacity is over 40%

3rd LED will blink if capacity is below 50%

3rd LED will be on if capacity is over 60%

4th LED will blink if capacity is below 70%

4th LED will be on if capacity is over 80%

    Sincerely,

    Jan

  • Hello Jan,

I will review your settings and respond with feedback tomorrow.

  • Hello Jan,

Pin 13 has the incorrect internal pull-up when configured for DISP operation, can you try configuring the DISP operation on pin 15?

We have an FAQ on how to reduce the number of LEDs on the gauges home FAQ page: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1127899/faq-bq40z80-faqs

You should be able to change threshold 5 and 6 to above 100% so they do not trigger, then set the other thresholds to align with your settings (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%)

I don't think you will get exact operation you request due to how we define the midpoint blink function, but it should be close.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
