BQ25601: Charging is not going to cut off after the setting cut off current

We set the cut off current to 180mA, but after it is lower that that, the charging current is not going to cut off in 5°C  chamber.

1. Test in 15°C chamber

What is the root that caused the termination is not set? Is it related thermal regulation?

    It is in Jeita Cool condition, please pay attention to REG09 also.

    Hi David, 

    As mentioned on page 23 of the datasheet on the BQ25601 device charge termination is disabled in JEITA cool and warm conditions. The behavior you observe is expected.

    Charger termination is disabled during Jeita cold, then charging current will persist on until 0mA or doubled safety time out?

    IF no cut off on Charger, is that a safe way for Jeita cold charging?

    Hi David, 

    Your understanding is correct. When in JEITA cool condition charge current will persist and continue to reduce towards 0mA. Charging will suspend for safety timer time out, or further temperature reduction below T1. If temperature rises back to normal operation range termination can then occur when charge current is below termination setting.

    JEITA guidelines recommend to reduce charge current to half or lower when in cool range (T1-T2). It does not provide guidelines for terminating charge. I recommend you refer to specifications provided by battery manufacturer to determine safe charging conditions for your specific battery. 

    If you require termination when in JEITA cool conditions TI has alternative part options such as BQ25622 or BQ25611D where termination is supported while in JEITA cool condition.
