What is the good ref design that I have o follow?

I am integrating UCC28056 with UCC25640A

1. UCC28056 Data sheet schematic Page 22 or PFCLLCSREVM034 Schematic Diagram: PFC Section Page 9

My Output from UCC25640A is 32V@12.5A

I used the calculator. it calculate max out PFC

OUTPUT:
Maximum Output Power of PFC Stage:	P_OUT	165	W
Output Voltage (Note: Must be > V_{IN_RECTIFIED(max)}):	V_OUT	390	V
Maximum Output Voltage Allowed Peak to Peak Low Frequency Ripple Factor (i.e. 0.02 for 2%, 0.05 for 5%). Not recommended to be > 5%:	V_{OUT_ripple_factor}	0.05
Maximum Output Voltage Allowed Peak to Peak Low Frequency Ripple	ΔV_PPK	19.5	V
Maximum Ambient Temperature:	T_AMB(max)	50	°C
Maximum Average Output Current of PFC Stage:	I_OUT	0.423	A
Minimum Equivalent Load Resistor	R_LOAD	921.8	W

In this case so I can use either circuit?

Hi Sam,

The PFCLLCSREVM034 was designed to support up to 168W of power. PMP22087 is closer to what you are trying to support. You would have to modify the power stages to support your peak power of 400 W.

1. 400W output is for UCC25640A that is I already take care of it

2. My question is to you PFC stage output always gives 165W 390V using

UCC28056X DESIGN CALCULATOR TOOL

What is on the PMP22087 ref Design PFC parts not change ?

Hi Sam,

Can you share your calculator? Line 36 allows you to set the output power of the PFC stage.

Data sheet says PFC. UCC28056 can drive a PFC power stage

Because this is a controller the 300W suggestion is simply because of the potential stress on the power stage. Typically above 300W, we see customers move to the interleaved UCC28064A as it reduces the input conductive power losses by operating two phases 180 degrees out of phase with each other. A transition-mode PFC has higher peak currents than a Constant-Current mode PFC (UCC28180) so component stress is something to consider.

I updated your calculator to show how the UCC28056 can support 400W.

Thanks for the information

I have three choice

1. UCC28056 (Use the design calculator) but it does not go above 300W (Even design calculator give parts selection for 400W , parts will larger)

2. UCC28064A have good ref design

a. PMP 31179 (use 256404)

b. PMP 30763 (use 256404)

What is the best ref design above a or b

3. UCC28180

Ref design UCC28280EVM -573

Do you have ref design Which integrated with UCC256404?

What is your recommendation above 3 choices?

Hi Sam,

At your power level, The UCC28064A is going to be the best choice. If you want a slightly smaller solution the UCC28065 is another option.
