LM317: What is the difference between LM317EMP/NOPB and LM317DCYR ?

What is the difference between LM317EMP/NOPB and LM317DCYR ? I couldn't observe much difference between the respective datasheets.

I see that the leadtime for LM317EMP/NOPB is very long whereas the LM317DCYR device is more readily available.

    Hello Nathan,

    I am including a spec comparison between the devices. The main differences are the minimum Vout, dropout voltage, and thermal resistance.

    To me the main points of difference are the thermal resistance and the PSRR. The thermal resistance of the LM317EMP/NOP8 is better. It is hard to tell for PSRR from your table since this is at 100kHz which is not that useful. LM317EMP/NOP8 is significantly better at 120Hz where it is more important to reject mains line frequency.
