TPS6593x-Q1 pull-down resistance on EN_DRV?

The FS Manual mentions [SA_29] “The actuator has a pull-down resistance on its input pin connected to the (?) of the TPS6593x-Q1”. Is it the EN_DRV?

If so, then the data sheet specifies something different in ch. 6.1 table 6-2: “RECOMMENDED EXTERNAL PU/PD - none”. Which is correct?

  • Hello Andreas,

as per this question and the other regarding pull-down resistance on the SoC side, let me check in the with the team in order to best answer this question.

  • Following up Andreas,

please see the following solution: (link here)

as it explains the reasoning for the SA and how it should be configured to adhered.

  • Hello Andreas,

the [SA_29] indeed refers to the EN_DRV pin. The reason that we have this [SA_29] for the EN_DRV pin in the Safety Manual is similar to the [SA_32] for the nRSTOUT pin. In case of a open-connect at the EN_DRV pin due to a random fault, the adherance to [SA_29] makes the system inheritly safe for such a fault.

The datasheet ch. 6.1 table 6-2: “RECOMMENDED EXTERNAL PU/PD” refers to the required application needs to make the device operate as specified, without considering random faults. So this table 6-2 indeeds specifies that the EN_DRV pin does not require a pull-up or pull-down to meet its specified operation.
