TPS7A24: Schematic Review

Part Number: TPS7A24
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6501

Hi team,

I'm requesting a schematic review. Could you please review TPS7A24 on page 4? I took a look myself and don't have much feedback, other than a few questions

- I'm just a bit confused by the 5.2 label because TPS7A2450DBVR is a fixed 5V output. So how can the output be 5.2V? Am I missing something or is this an incorrect label?

- Do you see any issues with the 3.3V isolated rail powering SN6501 and then isolating it and then dropping it down with the LDO? See attached for my thread where I asked the ISO team to review the SN6501 for context: https://e2e.ti.com/support/isolation-group/isolation/f/isolation-forum/1296787/sn6501-schematic-review

Thank you!
Lauren

  • Hello Lauren,

I will be reviewing the schematic soon.

  • Hello Lauren,

I have reviewed the schematic of TPS7A24.

The schematic looks good, in general pinout is fine, load is fine.

The only concern I have is: why is the output voltage 5.2V? This part is a 5V output part, and therefore will not be able to produce an output of 5.2V.

I recommend if the customer wants to have an output of 5.2V to use our adjustable version of this part: TPS7A2401DBVR. To use this part though, they will have to add resistors to the FB pin as shown in the diagram below:

The input voltage must also be at least 250 mV higher, 5.45 V, to keep the output rail at 5.2V.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Best Regards,

    Hannah
