Hi,

I am using TPS65987EVM for testing the DRP role for tablet. It is working as expected, the tablet is charging on plugging the adapter and on unplugging the adapter, the tablet supplies power to the EVM board.

The problem is when the tablet starts charging, the peripheral device connected to the tablet for USB communication disconnects with the tablet.

Now I am using an USB 3.0 Hub board for tablet communication with the peripheral device. (Shorted the D+ and D- lines of EVM with respective lines of peripheral device and done common the GND for both boards)

My purpose is to charge the tablet with the EVM while USB communication with the peripheral device connected.

Hello,

Please confirm the firmware configuration of the EVM, if you are not using the 'out of the box' configuration, then please provide the project file. Can you also capture PD logs to identify the roles of the devices?

Hello,

I am using the default firmware (Not flashed any firmware using the TIs Application tool GUI). Attaching the bin file which i have extracted from the firmware using the tool.

Hello,

The datafile is all 0s.

Do you have a way to monitor the PD transactions and capture a PD log? It would be good to see how the data role is handled. My assumption is that the 87EVM will come up as a data DFP (host).

Before charging does the data communication work?

Hello,

Okay, will share the PD logs in sometimes.

When we disconnected the USB data lines from PD and connected that to a peripheral device, the tablet enables the USB communication while giving power to the circuit (EVM and peripheral device) but when tablet starts charging USB disconnects.
