BQ25720: Recommended Selection of Charging ICs

Part Number: BQ25720
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25730, BQ40Z50-R2

Dear TI Teams,

We have two projects that require fast charging, and we need to determine the selection of charging ICs, both of them are the details are as below:

Project 1:

1) The battery is a series of three parallel lithium batteries, with a standard voltage of 3.7V and the full charged voltage is 4.2V, the battery capacity is about 16.5Ah;

2) The fast charging current needs to ensure at least 5V/5A, and the temperature rise of the charging IC should be as small as possible at the maximum charging current;

3) It is necessary to support battery internal resistance tracking and battery EOL information feedback;

4) Support for NTC is required;

Project 2:

1) The battery is a three series with four parallel lithium batteries, with a standard voltage of 11.1V and the full charged voltage is 12.6V, the battery capacity is about 22Ah;

2)  The fast charging current needs to ensure at least 15V/5A, and the temperature rise of the charging IC should be as small as possible at the maximum charging current;

3) It is necessary to support battery internal resistance tracking and battery EOL information feedback;

4) Support for NTC is required;

In addition, both of these projects have the requirement of fuel gauge for the system side.

For these two applications, we plan to use BQ25720 or BQ25730 as fast charging ICs, and the fuel gauge is plan to use BQ40Z50-R2.

We are wondering if this selection is suitable, or do you have a better recommendation for these application?

Thanks,

Kind Regards
