TPS25750: Application Customization Tool doesn't generate consistent binary (bug)

Part Number: TPS25750

Dear TI team,

After pulling my hair on some strange bugs (eg : https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1294435/tps25750-source-mode-gpio-direct-access/4913389#4913389)

I've noticed some strange behavior from your GUI TPS25750 Application Customization Tool 7.0.4.7 (I made sure to download again everything, to be up to date).

If I setup my config from the defaut EVM choice on question 1 (not selecting another choice), or if I select another choice before selecting again the Source/SinkTPS25750D/BQ (EVM config), the generated full-flash binary differs (sometimes, quite a lot).

If the config selected in the end is the same, shouldn't it generate the same binary ? And which one is the good one ??

Maybe you should look into that. I think the thread I linked above is because of that, I've selected the Source/Sink config after having selected a sink-only config, and some of the sink-only config remained so my TPS couldn't switch to source.

Here are some test configs and binary I've done to compare :

source_sink.rar

Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Thanks and Regards,

Richard

  • Hi Richard,

Thanks for the feedback, let me look into this on our end. If this is the case, it does seem like a bug.

The project configuration when selecting the initial project configuration is likely the "good one". The safest option when generating fresh projects is to reload the page.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris,

Thank you for your answer, that is roughly what I concluded, going from fresh config, straight to what we want, has the best results and works as it should.

We are progressing forward with our project, slowly, but I hope we'll manage to get a fully working configuration soon.

We do work a lot with TI chips and need support from time to time, sometimes for troubleshooting, sometimes just for inquiries about a specific feature we are looking for. Instead of opening a thread here every time, is there a contact we could have, like a FAE, that could help us more directly ?

You can close this thread if you want, now you are aware of it, or keep it open for issue tracking.

Have a wonderful rest of the day,

    Thanks and regards,

    Richard

  • Hi Richard,

I appreciate the feedback. We are currently working on updating the GUI sometime this year and hoping that will solve some issues we have been seeing with this one. I spoke to a member on the team, and this issue was seen before and should already be fixed in the new version.

is there a contact we could have, like a FAE, that could help us more directly ?

We'll reach out to the local sales team and see if they can get into contact with you.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
