TPS56C231: schematic+layout review of TPS56C231

I have reviewed the layout and schematic, below are my comments:

-Schematic

• You can refer to section 8.2.2.1.5 in the datasheet page 22 for guidance on input capacitor selection. The 40uF I see in the schematic should be fine, but the equation for Cin(min) will help guide on a good input capacitance value.

-Layout

• I did not notice issues on my side. Please refer to section 8.4.1 and 8.4.2 on page 24 in the datasheet as this is a good guidance tool to help double-verify the layout.

Hi Jimmy,

Ensure that the first or second layer is ground. This should be the case for ground shielding purposes. Then, with the first or second layer being ground, you can create a separate island for AGND, then connect PGND and AGND using a single point of contact. I attached an image below.
