TPS56C231: TPS56C231 Webench design question

Hi Team

if I use TPS56C231. which can't be designed Vin:6.2 V Vout 5.1 V Iout=7A.

However if I use TPS56C215 can work normally.

do you think the difference is normal? and what happen to make the difference.

Hi Brian,

This seems like a bug to me. TPS56C215 has the same specs and the design runs with that part with no issue.

Allow me to look further into this and I will respond in the next few days.

Hi Brian,

We are able to replicate the issue.

Currently device is failing for above condition due to minimum off time getting hit for TPS56C231 with operating frequency of 800KHz.

Whereas for the device TPS56C215 the operating frequency is 400KHz and hence the design is getting created.

We are working to correct the issue in TPS56C231. We will keep you updated on the same.

Yes ,device TPS56C231 for the reported condition should be working with 400KHz.

Hi Brian,

We have updated the WEBENCH model for the device and above reported issue is resolved. Updates will be available on ti.com tentatively by mid june.
