TPS6598X-CONFIG: FTDI Flash Failing Verification on TPS65987EVM

I am getting the "SPI Flash to Device failed verification" error pop-up after attempting to "Flash from current project" onto the TPS65987EVM.

Here are my flash settings:

I get "Invalid region pointers read", unsure if that is related to my issue.

Here are my adapter settings:

When I sweep the I2C address range, I get 0x0 through 0x7E as the result, but afterwards I get this error pop-up:

I have tried completely reinstalling the GUI tool, attempted to flash with external power connected and external power disconnected, and attempted to flash different types projects, all with the same result. I have also tried this on the custom board which we implemented with a nearly identical hardware setup to the EVM with the same result.

Could you please try changing the Adapter Instance I2C and Adapter Instance SPI selection? (see image below)

Hello Aya, thank you for your response.

I got the same issue with the other Adapter Instance options (pictured below). I tried with both the EVM and our own board with no difference in results.

The only difference was that the erasing and programming steps of the flash process took longer than it has been taking on the EVM.

Could you please double check that all six switches are in the ON position on the TPS65987D EVM?

Hi Jacob,

Thank you for confirming.

I was able to replicate the same behavior on a TPS65987D EVM (see below)

This behavior occurs when the board is not powered through J9 barrel jack (~19V-20V). Please verify that the EVM is powered on, LED D19 (SYSPWR) should light up.

Hello Aya, thanks for following up.

We have been powering the board with 20V by connecting a DC power supply to the SYS_PWR pins on the J5 jumper header. The D19 SYSPWR LED has been lit every time I've tried. Is it a requirement to power the board through the J9 barrel jack?

Hello Aya,

I combined your adapter instance suggestion along with swapping out our power supply for a different one and it worked. I am now able to flash both the EVM and our custom board successfully. Thank you very much!
