BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34Z100-G1: All iterations of ChemID submissions on the GPC tool gives errors! | India

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello,

This is an extension of the previously asked question liked below. Even when the profile matches with the expected profile, there is an error.

Can someone please help?

  • Hi Ninad,

In the discharge report you shared there are spikes in current when the battery should be at rest, and the temperature reaches 38 degrees C which is quite hot. These could both cause the error you are receiving. The thermistor could need calibrating.

What is your battery chemistry? Different chemistries have slightly different steps. This document explains the steps. Simple Guide to Chemical ID Selection Tool (GPC) (Rev. A)

    Regards,

    Evan

  • The temperature is due to the fact that summers in India have started and that's just the ambient temperature. Shall we reperform the rest in an air-conditioned ambient? The thermistor is fairly accurate as that is about the actual temp that we are

We are using a LFP battery chemistry and are following the procedure laid down in the manual that you have shared.

    Regards,

    Ninad

  • Hi Ninad,

I recommend repeating the discharge cycle, following the steps provided in the documentation in a temperature-controlled environment being careful to eliminate the spikes in voltage and current during charge, relax and discharge.

Please share the report and data after resubmitting.

It is possible we do not have a good match in our system. In that case you can reach out to your supporting FAE or local TI office for more information on how to get a custom ChemID for your cells. LFP batteries are more difficult to match due to the long flat ocv curve, but you should still receive some match, but the error could be very large. DOD% error of 3% or less is ideal.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • After removing the spikes from the data and resubmitting the results, we have a DoD error of 13% and a match for LFP. This, the report says is enough for doing the process. But now that we need the DoD error to be less than 3%, we will reperform the test in air-conditioned setting.

We have tried to reach out to TI for submitting the physical samples of the cells for custom ChemID, but have not got an actionable response. Can you please help connect us to someone who can facilitate us physically submitting a cell for ChemID?

  • Hi Ninad,

Please redo the test one last time but, the 13% maybe our best match at the moment.

I have sent you a friend request, please send me a message after accepting and I will provide you with more information in private messages about how you can send us your cells to get characterized.

    Regards,

    Evan
