UCC27324: UCC27324

Part Number: UCC27324
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28950,

Hello,

My name is Doğu Bora Yalçın, and I am employed as an Analog Design Engineer at ASELSAN. Presently, we are utilizing the UCC27324 Non-Inverting 4-A/4-A Dual-Channel Low Side Gate Driver alongside the UCC28950 Controller in one of our ongoing design projects. Our team is dedicated to research aimed at enhancing the efficiency of our designs.

In our current setup, we use silicon MOSFETs. However, we are also exploring the feasibility of incorporating GaN HEMTs into our design for potential performance improvements. Could you kindly provide guidance on whether the UCC27324 and UCC28950 are suitable for driving GaN HEMTs? Additionally, we would appreciate any recommendations regarding compatible GaN HEMTs that can be effectively utilized with the UCC27324 and UCC28950.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours sincerely,
Doğu Bora Yalçın

  • Hi Doğu,

Thanks for reaching out to TI. The UCC27324 is indeed a MOSFET driver, whereas the UCC28950 includes a controller and has a much weaker driver current. Our low-side gate driver portfolio contains a few drivers more suited for GaN such as the LMG1020. It would be recommended to utilize a gate driver more appropriate for the GaN switches.

    Thanks,

    Jeremiah
