BQ25756: 2 to 4 Devices in Parallel

Part Number: BQ25756

Hi,

I am looking to place 2-4 Circuits of the BQ25756 with solar inputs as illustrated on the diagram. The shunt resistors would be use to measure the current going into each system. I have a couple of questions:

  1. BQ25756 only lists 1 I2C address (0x6B) in the datasheet. Is this address configurable?
    1. Can it be changed using an internal register? or Address pin.
    2. Any future plan to add 1-2 Address pins?
  2. Is it possible to connect the BQ25756 in parallel without any ideal diode/diode at the output to separate each FB pin?
    1. If an ideal diode is required should the FB pin be connected after the ideal diode or before?
  3. Does the BQ25756 require a battery connected at all times or can the battery be disconnected?
  4. Any recommendations to connect the BQ25756 correctly in this configuration?

  • Hi Diego,

    1. The address is not configurable and this device is already released so I do not think there are plans to add more addresses, however we have another ddevice BQ25756E which has a different address and maybe that can be used along with this if it suits your application.

    2. Yes, it is possible to operate without diode at the output to isolate feedback pin.

    3. We recommend that the battery be connected at all times because we have seen certain issues when battery is suddenly unplugged while charging.

    4. Please see diagram below as sample along with test procedure.
