BQ25620: VSYS falls to low after few minutes.

Dear TI experts,

My customer now tests their final product. It contains BQ25620.

THey found that after the product is boot on, VSYS falls to low after 30sec~5minutes, falling duration is about 120ms. so the MCU is re-boot and the device is not working normally.

(Each samples have different time to go to failure situation. one sample has only 30sec to failure, another sample has up to 5 min to failure.)

the point is, this failure is happend only to the parts which supplied by Arrow Electronics.

They bought some samples for DV and PP from digi-key, they did not found that kind of failure.

And the marking is different between the IC from Arrow and digi-key.

So I am asking you about the questions below.

1. Please review the schematic. Is there anything wrong?

2. Is there any way to fix this failure?

3. Please verify the top marking. One is BQ25620, another is BQ620. Which is right?

4, Was there any PCN about changing top marking for this part?

Hi Chase,

The reported VSYS fall behavior appears to match a known issue with BQ25620. There is a workaround, which we can help customer to implement. Can you please help to provide customer information so we can reach out directly?

I can confirm both BQ25620 and BQ620 are acceptable top markings. All material moving forward will have top marking BQ620.

My customer's email address is sgha@humanintech.co.kr, his name is Seong-Gook Ha.

But still I do not understand clearly. My customer said that they did not see any issues yet with the ICs which top marking is BQ620.

Their pre-production is stopped, this is urgent situation. Please help them asap.

My customer ordered another 1 reel of BQ25620.

But It should be have no problem.

Do you have any information that the reel have no problem? (identified by lot no. or other method)

Hi Chase,

I checked with my team and was told we shipped 3Ku of post-PCN (i.e. no problem) BQ25620 material to Arrow last week.

I am working to get the lot number, but do not have that information as of yet. I will update you with lot information as soon as I have it.

I got some information of the parts which arrived Arrow's warehouse from sales dept., but the format is little different from your information.

Could you check again which is post-PCN material?

We need to deliver it as soon as possible, so please check if it's a LOT # item without any problems.
