I’m currently using the bq Gas Gauge Evaluation Software v1.12 tool to calibrate the bq27510-g1 IC using a LP8060 (3.7V 2000mAh) LiPO battery.
I’ve been running into the issue with the UPDATE STATUS register not changing to 0x01. No matter how many times I discharge (relax 5 hours) / charge (relax 2 hours) the UPDATE STATUS stays at zero.
After the most recent discharge that was run overnight, I noticed that the RUP_DIS bit was CLEARED prior to initializing the track impedance. After reading app note SLUA597 on page 2 #6. It states if this happens it usually means that I have the wrong Chemistry ID. This must be the case because I am also seeing negative values in the Ra table.
I've selected the default chem ID 0100 since the battery chemistry on from the manufacture matches the LiCo02 anode / graphite anode. Can someone please tell me if should be using a different chem ID? I've attached a pdf of the battery and the discharge log file.
Hello Joshua,
Please use the GPCCHEM tool to get a ChemID that fits your battery. www.ti.com/.../GPCCHEM
