BQ27510EVM: Use of EV2300 with BQ27510EVM

What is the use of Ev2300 Communications transceiver with the Bq27510. I just need to communicate the Cell voltage, Cell SOC . Will I be able to do this without the EV2300 and use arduino instead?

Thank you for the link. But that does not solve my doubt. Will I be able to communicate with the gauge using arduino or is it important that i should purchase a EV2300 communications transceiver to establish a communication with the Battery gauge bq27510EVM?

that app note describes how to communicate with the gauge using your your host. eg your arduino. It is better to purchase the ev2300 or ev2400 to be able to evaluate and configure the guage using our bqstudio GUI
