UCC29002: solution for current sharing

Part Number: UCC29002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2412, LMR33630

Hi Team,

customer have new project for LNB applicaiton and need new solution for current sharing while two phase Vin input,  Or the integrated IC available, there any suggested solutions?

we think E-Fuse solution is not good choice by comparison to the controller. However, it is an interesting structure from TI website data, can help check the TPS5412 or TPS241x N+1 and ORing Power Rail Controller..

1. Can UCC29002/39002 be used design with LM3363D in 5V_out @1.8A Redundant Systems?

2. Any condition for DC/DC function while using UCC29002? eg., the Transconductance error amp function or V_sense Pin is necessary?

3. What about UCC29002 + TPS5412 combination solution , It seems to replacement traditional Oring Diode in a load share / hot swap application.
pls help provide the reference design or application note.

  • Hello Tommy,

Thank you for your interest in the UCC29002 load-share controller.

In your post text and diagram, there are references to part numbers that I cannot find on TI.com:  TPS5412, LM3363D, LM33630.
I believe that you mean TPS2412 and LMR33630, is that correct?

    Assuming so, my replies are:
    1.  Yes, the UCC29002/39002 can be used with the LMR33630 for load sharing.
    2.  Since the LMR33630 has adjustable output with an external feedback divider network, this is ideal for connecting with the UCC29002 ADJ pin.
    3.  The TPS2412 ideal diode can replace an ordinary discrete ORing diode and almost eliminate the ORing voltage drop.

Here is an application note that discusses this sharing arrangement: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/196/Current-Sharing-in-Redundant-Systems.pdf

There are also links to Similar Topics along the right side of this E2E forum thread, which discuss various previous issues related to sharing with ORing.

    Regards,
    Ulrich

  • Hi Ulrich,

    sorry~ yes, i write wrong,  is LM33630,

    and not TPS5412, is TPS2412.

thanks for your help and reply.
