UCC28782: About constants input into calculation tools

Part Number: UCC28782
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC5350, UCC27712, LMG3622, LMG3616, PMP23224

Hello,

I am checking the constants input into the UCC28782 calculation tool.
In order to use UCC5350SB as a gate driver, I am considering the constants to input in the following items.
I received an answer from the person in charge of UCC5350 in the thread below.
Since this product does not use a boot diode, is it okay to set below the items to "0"?
Vf_bootD
CbootD_t

  • Hi Kaji-San,

Glad to know that the driver team assisted you.

If am ok with the propagation delays filled and if Cboot and Dboot are not filled that's ok for the calculator tool. But I have a fundamental question on how you are driving the top and bottom FETs without Cboot and Dboot,

I have seen applications using UCC27712 gate driver to drive the top and bottom FETs with bootstrap components.

Are you planning to use two such UCC535x devices for top and bottom FETs sepaately?

    Thank you

    Regards,

    Harish

  • Thank you for your reply.
The circuit I just created has the following configuration.
    Main: LMG3622
    Active clamp: LMG3616+ISO7710F
Also, I'm considering another configuration below.
Main: MOSFET (directly driven by PWML of UCC28782)
    Active clamp: MOSFET+UCC5350SB
The above configuration is based on the reference design PMP23224.
In that circuit, the UCC5350SB does not use a boot capacitor, so I think it is not necessary.
Please let me know if you have any opinions regarding the above.
    Best regards,

  • Hi Kaji-San,

Yes your configuration should work. But there will be the requirement for diode and capacitor as shown below:

    Thank you
