LM66100-Q1: Using an ideal diode to protect Primary cells ( 1S3P configuration)

Part Number: LM66100-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63900, LM66100, TPS2117

Tool/software:

Good evening,

I am designing a power supply system for an IOT sensors working with LORAwan,;

  • 3 x Primary Cell (LiSoCl2 , 3.6VDC MAX, D Size ) in Parallels (1S3P config). Primary cells are non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Max current needed is 100mA during Transmission and 10uA during sleep.
  • Output Voltage is 3.3VDC
  • Input Voltage from each primary cell is 3.1VDC to 3.4VDC ( voltage varies due to Load + temperature)

I will use the TPS63900 a buck-boost already used on other projects and it works well.

I need Reverse Polarity and Reverse Current protection for each cell, if one of the cell is damaged or fully discharged ( it can happen that user forget to change all the cells at the same time) it should not be recharged by 'healthy' cells.

I would like to avoid a to use a Schottky diode  due to drop voltage 0.3-0.7VDC.

My Idea was to use an Ideal diode like the LM66100 (high RDS 91mOhms) or the TPS2117 MUX (only VIN1 would be used) as the RDS is very low 20mOhm.

If I use TPS2117 I still need to use PMOS with low RDS for Reverse polarity protection.

The ST Pin will be connected to MCU or a Red LED if one of the battery is reversed by user.

Which solution do you suggest me ?
