UCC5350: CLAMP pin is unintentionally floating, is there any risk for UCC5050M?

Part Number: UCC5350

Tool/software:

HI,

A my account wants to check if there is any risk for UCC5350M when CLAMP pin is floating(R1093 is unintentionally removed)? the schematic of UCC5350M is shown as below.

  • Hi Ken,

The gate driver will have no problem if CLAMP is floating. However, I recommend you still leave it connected to the gate as intended. Miller injection is a serious threat to the half bridge, and I recommend designing as much redundancy as possible to prevent this issue. Even if it has a long Vgs pull-down loop, a long Miller clamp is better than nothing.

Unless you are using GAN, which does not have Miller injection.

    Best regards,

    Sean
